Lea Bischofberger Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Yellow, a group show with works by: Geraldina Bassani Antivari, Kate Daudy, Tilly Joos, Emma Larsson, Sarah Richani, Amanda Sandberg and Anna Skladmann.

Yellow is the colour of first light. The glow of late summer, ripened wheat, pollen drifting through the air, lemons, sunflowers, and saffron. It is a color of brightness and vitality, yet one that has always carried contradictions. Across centuries and cultures, yellow has signified joy and prosperity as readily as caution, mystery and transformation. Few colors have shifted so effortlessly between opposing meanings.

Its story reaches back to the earliest moments of image-making. Yellow ochre, one of humanity's oldest pigments, appears in prehistoric cave paintings as Lascaux, while ancient Egyptian artists used it to evoke sunlight, skin and eternity. In imperial China, brilliant yellow became the exclusive colour of the emperor, symbolising authority. Rather than belonging to one history, yellow belongs to many, continually reshaped by the cultures and imaginations that embrace it.

Yellow brings together these works by Geraldina Bassani Antivari, Kate Daudy, Tilly Joos, Emma Larsson, Sarah Richani, Amanda Sandberg and Anna Skladmann. Across painting, photography and various mixed medias, the artists approach the color as a presence. Sometimes yellow is quiet, almost weightless; elsewhere it radiates with intensity. It becomes an atmosphere, a gesture or light, unfolding differently in every work.

The works in this exhibition are connected by a shared palette rather than a shared narrative. Together they reveal the remarkable breadth of expression contained within a single hue. Moving from subtle luminosity to vivid intensity, Yellow invites us to experience color and all the shapes it can take. In doing so, it reminds us that even the most familiar colour can still surprise.
